Chicagoland Memorial Day Parades & Ceremonies


On Memorial Day, and every day, we should honor those who gave their life for our freedom. Don’t let this holiday pass by without paying your respects at one of these local parades and / or ceremonies.

Chicago Memorial Day Parades

SATURDAY

Chicago Memorial Day Parade and Wreath Laying Ceremony
  • The wreath ceremony begins 11 am at Daley plaza and is followed by the parade at noon.
Rolling Meadows Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony
  • 11 am along Kirchoff Road

SUNDAY

Streamwood Memorial Day Observance

  • An overnight candlelight vigil begins Saturday night where vigil guards march past the monoliths throughout the night.
  • They are relieved at 11 a.m on Sunday to formally start the Memorial Day ceremony.
Dundee Memorial Day Parade
  • Begins at Immanuel Lutheran Church in East Dundee at 2 p.m

 

MONDAY

Wheaton Memorial Day Parade
  • The parade begins at 10 a.m. at Memorial Park, 210 W. Union Ave. The parade will step off and head west down Union Street before turning south on West Street.
Barrington Memorial Day Parade
  • The Memorial Day Parade steps off at 10:30 am from Park Ave. and proceeds to Evergreen Cemetery for a Remembrance Ceremony.
Naperville Memorial Day Parade
  • The parade begins at 10:30 from Jackson and West Street heading east along Jackson.
  • There will be an observance in Central Park after the parade.
Elk Grove Village Memorial Day Ceremony
  • The ceremony will be held inside the Elk Grove Park District Pavilion at 10:45.

Elmhurst Memorial Day Parade

  • Begins 9:30 from the Elmhurst City Center at Third and York
  • Post parade military ceremony at Wilder Park
Crystal Lake Memorial Day Parade
  • The Memorial Parade begins at 11 a.m and heads East on Franklin Avenue, North on Williams Street, and West on Woodstock Street to Union Cemetery.
Aurora Memorial Day Parade
  • The parade route will begin at noon at the intersection of Benton and River, heading east on Benton.
Carol Stream Memorial Day Service
  • 10:30 begins the dedication of the Veterans Memorial Plaza at the Ross Ferraro Town Center.
  • The Carol Stream Memorial Day Service follows at 12:00 pm.
Lombard Memorial Day Ceremony
  • Begins 10 am at Sunken Garden in Common Park
Addison Memorial Day Community March and Ceremony
  • Community March from Indian Trail to St. Paul Cemetery, 9:30 a.m.
  • Flag posting and observance begins at St. Paul Cemetery,  9:45 a.m.
  • Memorial Day Ceremony at village hall, 11 a.m
Elgin Memorial Day Service
  • 8:45: There will be a Catholic Mass at Mount Hope Cemetery along with a combined color guard, rifle salute and the playing of Taps.
  • At 9:15 a service to honor those buried at Lakewood Memorial Park will be held at the cemetery’s Garden of Honor and include a combined color guard.
  • For veterans interred at sea, a program at Elgin Veterans Memorial Park will feature the Elgin Master Chorale and a presentation by Elgin Navy Club members. As well as a strewing of flowers into the Fox River, a rifle salute and the playing of Taps.
  • At 11 a.m the Bluff City Cemetery will pay tribute to the 75th anniversary of D-day
Round Lake Area Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony
  • Parade lineup and opening ceremony begin at 9:15 a.m at the American Legion.
Mundelein Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony
  • Begins 10 a.m at the Metra Station and continues down Division Street to Pershing.
Arlington Heights 100th Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony
  • The parade starts 9:30 at Sigwalt and Arlington Heights Road in front of the Village Hall
  • At the end of the parade there will be a Memorial Day ceremony at Memorial Park
Grayslake Memorial Day Parade
  • Begins on Lake Street at 9:30 and travels south to Junior Ave.
  • The memorial ceremony will begin immediately after the parade at Memorial Park
Libertyville Memorial Day Parade
  • Gather at the Metra station at 9 a.m for a 9:30 parade!
Mount Prospect Memorial Day Parade
  • The parade will step off at about 9:40 a.m. from village hall at the corner of S. Emerson Street and E. Busse Avenue. It will proceed south on Emerson Street to E. Lincoln Street and from there to the Mount Prospect Veterans Memorial at Lions Park.
Hanover Park Memorial Day Ceremony
  • 10 a.m in the Veterans Memorial Plaza
Hoffman Estates Memorial Day Celebration
  • Beginning of program will begin at 10 am at the HE Police Department (411 W. Higgins Rd), finishing at approx. 10:30 am. The program will continue in Schaumburg at St. Peter Lutheran Church at 10:45 am.
Lake Zurich Memorial Day Parade
  • The event includes a parade that steps off at 10 a.m. from post headquarters at 51 Lions Drive, and a ceremony at 10:45 a.m. at the Lake Zurich Veterans Monument, 200 Mohawk Trail.
Lisle Memorial Day Parade
  • The parade will begin at 10:00 a.m. at Lisle Junior High School and proceed down Main Street, ending at the Lisle Veterans Memorial.
  • A community picnic will immediately follow at the Museums of Lisle Station Park.
Palatine Memorial Day Parade
  •  The parade will start at 10:15 AM at Cornell Avenue and Smith Street.
  • Following the parade at 11 AM there will be a short program at the Veterans Memorial and then another ceremony at the Legion Memorial in Towne Square at 150 W. Palatine Road beginning at 12:15 PM
St. Charles Memorial Day Parade
  • Parade begins 10 a.m at Sixth and Main streets and continues to Riverside Avenue.
  • A special memorial service will follow the parade at the Freedom Shrine along the river, west of the St. Charles Police Department, 211 N. Riverside Ave
Wauconda Memorial Day Parade
  • The parade begins at 10am and travels along Main Street ending with a celebration at Memorial Park.
  • The Memorial Day ceremony will take place at Memorial Park around noon
Waukegan Memorial Day Parade
  • Parade begins 10:30am from the corner of Genesee and Grand Ave. Parade continues to Veterans Plaza at the corner of Washington and West St.
  • Ceremony to follow
