St. Patrick’s Day in Chicagoland

This year we will surely be missing the parades and green river. It’s hard to believe that we are coming up on the 1 year anniversary of this pandemic and the second round of event cancellations for this particular holiday. But just as with Valentine’s Day, this is another opportunity for us to support local businesses with our wallets and still create special memories with your family.

Visit Givin’s Irish Castle

  • Givins Irish Castle is at the corner of 103rd Street and Longwood Drive in the Beverly neighborhood on the Far South Side of Chicago.
  • “The current church building, called the “Irish Castle” was built from 1886 to 1887 under the direction of Robert C. Givins, a successful real estate developer. It is a three story structure with three crenelated towers. Givins lived in the castle from 1887-1894, then from 1895-1897 the castle housed the Chicago Female College. Beverly Unitarian Church purchased the building for $14,000 and has used it since 1942. It is the only building in the city described as a “castle.”

St. Charles businesses will also offer St. Patrick’s promotions to be featured on the St. Patrick’s Celebration website.

Other events during the St. Patrick’s Celebration will be a Treasure Hunt, where families can find Leprechauns in downtown St. Charles Businesses and be entered to win a “Pot of Gold” containing a selection of prizes from around St. Charles.”
