  • For children 5 months to 4 years
  • Silly, musical, playful exploration of rock, pop, folk, and more!
  • Gorton Community Center in Lake Forest

10:00 AM: What’s Inside? At Wonder Works Children’s Museum

  • “Today we will use our senses of touch, hearing, and sight to discover what’s inside a variety of natural and human-make objects. Reach inside a box and let your sense of touch tell you what it holds. Shake a container to see if you can tell what’s inside just by listening. You can look at X-rays of skeletons and try to put pretend organs back inside a plastic body. There also will be magic tricks that you can figure out once you look below the surface.”

1:00 PM: $10 Drop-In Family Painting at Art Life Studio

  • Art Life Studio in Lombard
  • No set project, bring your own idea!
  • Event goes from 1-4 pm with the last seating at 3 pm.

 

4:00 PM: Best of Countryside Carnival

  • La Grange, IL
  • June 27th – 30th
  • Amusement rides, games, music, and more! General admission is free.
  • Compete for cash prizes at the Sunday morning Bags Tournament.

 

5:00 PM: St. Pius X Summer Carnival

  • Lombard, IL
  • Thursday – Sunday, June 27th – 30th
  • Amusement rides, games, music, and more! General admission is free.
  • Parking is free at St. Pius X Westmore Church Th, Fri, and Sun only.

 

5:00 PM: Logan Square Arts Festival 

  • Illinois Centennial Monument in Chicago
  • Friday – Sunday, June 28th – 30th
  • “The Logan Square Arts Festival is a three-day celebration of the creativity, diversity, and vitality of Chicago’s Logan Square neighborhood. The festival features two stages of live music, visual art, performance art, dance, food, and drinks, all presented in the heart of Logan Square.”
  • $5 suggested donation

 

6:00 PM: Pajama-rama Family Bash

  • Blackberry Farm in Aurora
  • “Start the evening with rides and games and at dusk watch Ralph Breaks the Internet on our outdoor movie screen.”
  • Come in your pajamas!

 

6:00 PM: Vintage Rides in Downtown Wheaton

  • 70s night / Corvette night

 

6:00 PM: Arts on the Row

  • An evening of fine art and jazz on the row at The Promenade Bolingbrook.
  • Enjoy an outdoor art gallery, swing music by the Pete Ellman Big Band, and swing dancing.
  • Fred Estaire Dance Studio will teach a few swing dance steps before the concert begins!

 

6:30 PM: Geneva Commons Summer Concert Series

  • The June 28 theme is Classical Music and Classical Rock

 

7:30 PM: Mary Poppins Returns at Wilder Park in Elmhurst

  • Come early for free popcorn and food trucks. The movie begins around 9 pm.

 

7:30 PM: Glow Swim at Phillips Park Family Aquatic Center

  • Swimmers will receive glow swag to enjoy the pool with!



SATURDAY



09:00 AM: Glenview Summer Fest

  • Entertainment, family fun, balloons, crafts, food, music, and more!

 

09:30 AM: Speediatrics Fun Day Festival in Joliet

  • Come meet Nascar drivers and mascots!
  • Stay fueled with healthy snacks!
  • Ideal for ages 6-12 but all welcome.

 

10:00 AM: Lake Ellyn Cardboard Boat Regatta & Food Truck Picnic

  • Event opens to the public at 10 a.m.
  • Food truck picnic begins at 11 a.m.
  • The regatta begins at noon.

 

10:00 AM: SciTech Saturdays in Aurora

  • SciTech Hands On Museum
  • “Held on the LAST SATURDAY of every month, Super SciTech Saturday brings one STEAM topic into sharp focus. Guest speakers and field experts give presentations. Hands On craft projects can be added, giving children take-home items. Up to four child admissions are FREE with a paying adult on Super SciTech Saturday.”

 

10:00 AM: Sesame Street Fest at the Museum of Science and Industry

  • A fun and interactive festival that includes a stage show, maze, treasure dig, photo ops, and cookies & milk snack station, and more!

10:00 AM: Dog Days at Cantigny

  • For one day only, owners and their dogs can enjoy a special dog play area, vendors, and specially trained canines providing entertainment.
  • All dogs must have current vaccination tags, amicable to other dogs, and NO retractable leashes.

 

10:30 AM: Discovery Garden

  • “Come discover and explore the Elsie Jacobsen Discovery Garden at the Oak Park Conservatory. Hands-on activities led by our garden docents outside in our Discovery Garden. Learn about native Illinois ecosystems and have fun playing in the garden. Perfect for our youngest visitors, 3-6 year olds. This month’s theme is Butterflies.”

 

11:00 AM: Back Lot Bash Family Fest

  • Musical performances for kids
  • Mini petting zoo
  • Face painting, balloons, craft tables, sidewalk art, bounce houses, games, and more!

 

11:00 AM: Whoosh! At the Discovery Center Museum

  • “Test the strength of air and design devices that flutter, fly, and float in the breeze! Whip up a wind, pop out a vortex, compare breezes to gusts, and create a contraption for a blustery day. Manipulate materials in a wind column, use your breath to create a work of art, and witness wonders that wind can do! All activities included with admission.”

 

12:00 PM: Joliet PrideFest

  • This is the inaugural Joliet Pridefest!
  • Billie Limacher Bicentennial Park and Theatre
  • A family friendly event with an exciting event schedule!

 

12:00 PM: Pier Pride at Navy Pier

  • A full day of family-friendly activities to support the LGBTQ+ community and get amped up for the Pride Parade on Sunday!
  • The Chicago Children’s Museum will be hosting arts and crafts activities
  • A fabulous story time with drag queens
  • Don’t miss the musical procession down the dock from the Lakeside Pride Marching Band
  • A special performance by the Chicago Gay Men’s Chorus
  • And of course, music, food, and nightly fireworks!

 

3:00 PM: Taste of Grayslake: Family Picnic and Fireworks

  • Every Saturday at 7:30 is movie time at the Geneva Commons!
  • Bring blankets and chairs and enjoy the free popcorn!

  • Kicks off at Montrose Ave and Broadway in Uptown and ends near Diversey Parkway and Sheridan Road in Lincoln Park

 

3:00 PM: The Fortunate Sons Concert at Cantigny

  • America’s greatest Creedence Clearwater Revival Tribute Band!
  • Brings chairs and blankets and enjoy the show!

 

5:00 PM: Geneva Commons Summer Concert

  • 7th Heaven: 70s & 80s Pop and Rock
