The season is upon us! Apple picking, pumpkin picking, sweater weather, cider, donuts…

This is my absolute FAVORITE season of the year! And before winter hits, we need to enjoy

all of the outdoor activities we can get!

All Seasons Orchard

Homestead Orchard

  • Woodstock, IL
  • “Our customers come to our orchard to pick their own apples and have 23 varieties to choose from. . . . starting in late July, the LODI is ready to be picked for great applesauce and pies. Our early August apples include JERSEY MAC, EARLY BLAZE, and DUTCHESS. This season, late August apples will be McINTOSH and GALA. JONATHANS will begin in the middle of September. When October arrives we start picking EMPIRE, GOLDEN DELICIOUS, JONAGOLD and BLUSHING GOLDEN. Late in October we still have RED DELICIOUS, BRAEBURN and WINESAP. Honey Hill Orchard

Jonomac Orchard

  • Malta, IL
  • On Fall Festival Days (Saturday, Sunday, Labor Day & Columbus Day Monday) guests must have general admission wristband to enter the u-pick orchard plus a u-pick bag (for up to 4 people). This is required so we are able to restrict the number of guests on our farm each day. Tickets may be purchased in advance through the website.
  • Fall Festival days are Fri-Sun and holidays
  • On Weekdays (Monday-Thursday, excluding Labor Day & Columbus Day Monday) it is free to enter the u-pick apple orchard once you have purchased your u-pick bag from inside our Store & Bakery or Cider House.
  • Tiny Town Play Area is open free of charge Monday through Friday, and guests are able to pick apples in our U-Pick Apple Orchard from 9am-5:00pm

Keller’s Farmstand

  • Woodys Orchard has a 2 acre pumpkin field that features 15 varieties of pumpkins planted randomly. The pumpkins range from 1-5 lb “cannon balls” to 100 lbs “atlantic giants.”

Fall doesn’t mean enjoying a beautiful flower field has to come to an end.

Many sunflower fields are just now blooming!

Thompson Strawberry Farm

Juneteenth in Chicago 2022

June 19th is the REAL freedom day when the word that slavery had ended finally reached the enslaved people of Galveston, TX.

A holiday just as important as the 4th of July, and with Chicago being a major destination of freed African Americans

fleeing the Jim Crow south in the Great Migration, this is the perfect city to celebrate in!

Opal’s National Walk For Freedom

  • The parade will start route at 10 a.m. staging at the Robert Crown Center area lot. Parade will travel down Dodge street and end at the Civic Center parking lot (Ingraham Park) with additional festivities food and vendors.
  • “Juneteenth, now officially Juneteenth National Independence Day commemorates the emancipation of enslaved people which occurred two and a half years after the emancipation proclamation and originated in Galveston, Texas.”


Oak Park’s Juneteenth Celebration

  • June 19th at 11 AM
  • “Oak Park’s Juneteenth celebration culminates with a parade and community cookout on Sunday, June 19. The parade steps off at 11 a.m. from Longfellow Park near Jackson Boulevard and will march north on Ridgeland Avenue to Augusta Street. Community groups and organizations are invited to participate in the parade.”
  • Following the parade, a community cookout will be held starting at 1 p.m. at Taylor Park, 400 Division St.
